SKY CONSTELLATIONS
2019-2020 // 120MM MULTIPLE EXPOSURE // BROOKLYN [USA]
Our external world is reconstructed within us as we pass through it. Its impact goes beyond its ability to shape our exterior experience; it also transforms our interior spaces—our personal relation to the world around us. How this transformation occurs and what it builds in us is at the heart of my practice.
‘Sky Constellations’ reconstructs my perception on film. Turning the camera towards the sky and using a combination of multiple exposures and physical masking in front of the film allows me to capture the thick nothingness of the night sky in new geometric compositions. Building the work between myself and the sky—co-creating them as expressions of my inner geographies.
Juxtaposing photographs and poems creates a dialogue for the audience to join. The poems aim at a reconstruction of language—a search for voice. The poems have internal logic that follows my obsession with aligning shapes and building new spaces. A dialogue between the poems and the photos opens the work to new views and interpretations.
The process of how these works are made, exposed using only the camera, is important to the final expression of the work. A description can be found here.
《Sky Constellations》
